It’s called National Simultaneous Storytime and nearly a million people took part in 2016.

The featured book this year was I Got This Hat by Jol and Kate Temple (illustrated by Jon Foye). Townsville CityLibraries invited me to read the ogre book as  a warm up to the main event as they know I have a pretty decent collection of kooky hats and The Trouble With Ogres also features some fancy headwear. It was a hoot.

I was chuffed to be invited to take part in a nationwide event that promotes reading (and hat appreciation), thanks TCC Citylibraries.

Book reading at Galbiri https://www.nathaliefernbach.com/book-reading-at-galbiri/ https://www.nathaliefernbach.com/book-reading-at-galbiri/#respond Sun, 07 Aug 2016 10:16:38 +0000 http://www.nathaliefernbach.com/?p=181

Wow! Check out these fantastic ogre hats as drawn by the Kindergarten class at Galbiri Childcare centre.

Lead educator Tina invited me to read The Trouble With Ogres to her Kindy group and to lead the class in some ogre acting, ogre stomping and a bit of ogre egg eating.

We had a terrific time!

After the reading the students showed off their impressive art skills drawing beautiful hats for the ogre.

Tina created a fantastic gallery of photos and the students’ activity sheets outside the class room – I was chuffed!

Thanks Galbiri for your hospitality.

We read the book, made delicious imaginary eggs and toast, sang the ogre song and had a treasure hunt. Lots of friendly faces and some excellent ogre acting made me feel at ease. Thank you for a great time!

Meet me at the library! https://www.nathaliefernbach.com/hello-world/ https://www.nathaliefernbach.com/hello-world/#comments Wed, 23 Mar 2016 11:17:42 +0000 http://www.nathaliefernbach.com/?p=1 Ollie_reads_Ogre_MamaIMG_7799The library has been a sanity saver since Ollie joined our family. We love visiting the library and sitting down to read or play games. So it’s exciting that my first public reading of The Trouble With Ogres is at Citylibraries Thuringowa. I’ll be holding a book reading on Monday April 4, from 10:00am. We’ll read the book then try acting out some ogre moods and get crafty with some colouring. The session is free but you’ll need to book for the drama/craft activities. Click here to book, or call the library on 4773 8811.
